My Favorite Summer Dresses

If you know me, you know that 99.99% of my closet is thrifted, and I’m so proud of it, haha. Thrifting allows me to shop all seasons year-round, and score amazing deals on name brands. There’s just something about spring and summer clothes, I just love the season. Once the thrifts start bringing out the spring and summer clothing, game over, take my money, heck even my wallet. I am obsessed with thrifting summer dresses. I love the ease and femininity of them. Just throw on a dress and pair it with some sandals or white sneakers and you’re good to go. It’s the easiest way to look put together, and super chic, while also staying cool and comfy in the summer heat. Whether it be a classic beige linen dress, maxi dress, or a crisp white midi dress, I got you covered. I truly believe there’s a dress for every woman’s style, shape, and personality. Let’s get started!

1.) Floral Petal & Pup Midi Dress– This is one of the most recent dresses I’ve found. I just discovered the brand Petal & Pup a few months ago, and let me tell you, they have the cutest girly and fun dresses! So, naturally, I’ve been wanting to find one at the thrift. Lo, and behold I found one last week. Not only did I find one, but it was New With Tag for $11 only when normally their dresses run $80+. It’s the perfect transitional spring to summer dress. It’s super lightweight and very flattering on. Smock dresses are my thing, and they are flattering on so many body types. I love how subtle the floral pattern is, and very neutral with that perfect hint of rosy pink!

2.)Velvet By Graham & Spencer Linen Short Dress– I scored this dress at Goodwill for $4, and this brand normally retails well over $120, insane. I loveeeeeed this dress. I say it in the past tense because after I wore it this day^ I get home to realize that it ripped in two places by both my armpits, hahaha! Very short-lived, but maybe I’ll get around to sewing it, or attempting to. I have a feeling it won’t be the same. I guess I can wear it as long as I don’t lift my arms at any point, haha. This dress is so cute, and a timeless dress to have in any wardrobe. Linen will always be a classic fabric, and it makes for a very chic and effortless look. It goes with everything, literally! This dress is extremely lightweight and flowy, which is key for any summer climate you’re in. I also loved the fit of this dress. It is cinched perfectly right above the waistline, which is flattering for my girls with a bigger bust like me. It’s such a struggle to find a dress that is cute yet flattering because I realize how “unflattering” certain dresses can look on when you have a bigger bust!

3.)Crisp White Midi Dress– I linked a dress that is somewhat similar to the one I’m wearing. I love how it has that tiered style to it. I also love how the one I linked has the ruffle sleeveless look! This dress is not a brand or designer, it’s one of those by the beach type of stores (my best guess). It’s also older, as I can tell from the tag. That being said, I don’t have a brand/designer to share with y’all sadly. This is one of my all-time favorite thrifted dresses. I found this is my local Volunteers of America last summer for $4 only! Talk about a steal. I swear every single time I wear it, I get compliments on it and so many women cannot believe it was from a thrift store! The midi length is so flattering, and elongates you, giving a taller appearance. Pair any classic white midi dress you have with your favorite pair of nude wedges, and you have the easiest go-to summer outfit. Easy breezy;) If you want to elevate the look even more, give yourself a quick spray tan, get one done, or go lay out in the sun a bit to make the white pop even more. You can wear this type of dress to a summer evening dinner, rehearsal dinner, or to church.

4.)Red Tiered Midi Dress– I linked a similar dress, that’s more of a burgundy. I don’t typically go for the burgundy colorway, but this style is super cute and similar to mine! If you can’t tell, I have a major thing for midi dresses! I love love love a good pop of red, hot pink, or blue. I also scored this dress from my local Volunteers of America last summer, and unfortunately, like the third dress, this dress is not a major brand or designer I can share with y’all. But, it’s easy enough to find similar dresses! I found this one on a half-off day for $2! This is the perfect midi dress for the fourth of July coming up. You can easily dress this dress up, or make it more casual. You can wear this to your local fourth of July parade with some white sneakers, or like I did with a pair of open-toe wrap wedges to church. I also accessorized with my favorite pair of bedazzled “USA” red, white, and blue dangle earrings. If you can’t also tell, I’m obsessed with anything patriotic and love America, lol! Red is the perfect pop of color in the summer, and again is really flattering on many skin tones! If you’re feeling like stepping out of your fashion comfort zone, try to find a dress with your favorite pop of color, this stands out, but not in a gaudy way. Who doesn’t love a colorful summer dress?!

5.)H&M Hot Pink Flouncy Dress– I linked a similar dress, that’s a tad more intricate in details, but still so cute! I’m still obsessed with this dress that I bought last summer (2021). It was only $7.99, (LOVE) from the thrift. It’s the perfect dress for those days when it hits 89°. Hot pink will always be in, I don’t care what anyone says, it’s such a fun color! I also really love the little ruffles neckline, it adds a bit more depth to it. The simplicity of it also makes it super versatile to dress up with some heels as I did, or throw on some white sneakers and go to a cute farmers market. I always look for dresses that can work multiple ways, like this dress, where you can wear the straps on your shoulders, or hanging off your shoulders as I did! A little play on colors, and a summer tan, make for THE perfect outfit. H&M never misses when it comes to their spring and summer dresses, and right now they currently have a lot of sizes and styles in stock still, so grab what you can!

Hopefully, you’ve found this post helpful when it comes to flattering styles and colors to look for when shopping. I love the simplicity and versatility of these dresses, and they’re all super affordable. These dresses are all so different, but classics in their own way. Whether you have a summer dinner, church, or brunch, one of these dresses would work perfectly! Happy shopping!
